STEVE VAI Auctioning Off 'Extremely Hard-To-Find' Guitar Amp

April 30, 2004

An extremely hard-to-find (only 44 were reportedly built) Soldano SLO-100R rack-mount amp head used by legendary guitarist Steve Vai during the WHITESNAKE "Slip Of The Tongue" and VAI "Sex & Religion World" tours is currently being auctioned off via eBay at this location. "This amp was hand-built by Mike Soldano and then modified by Steve's guitar tech Stan Schiller when he put a new 'Schiller' name plate on it as a joke," reads a posting on Vai's web site. "It was one of two and is the only one Steve has left. Since touring heavily, it has since lead a much quieter life at The Mothership in Hollywood, where it's been used in the studio from time-to-time. Steve can autograph the amp head for the winning bidder." The auction will end on May 9 at 6:00 p.m. PST.
